Capri Isles Calusa Lakes Waterford

Three college buddies who became good golfers fairly late in life began to operate golf courses in the early sixties. Tom Rich, Walt Matuszak, and Paul Patten all graduates of Cornell University first owned a course in the Pocono's, Pa. and by the late sixties had purchased a course in Sarasota. After they became accustom to the golf business in Florida, a struggling new course in Venice Florida became available, and in 1972 the Golf Course at Capri Isles was purchased. Later the trio of golf nuts brought in three new partners; Len Bobbett (Skaneateles, NY), Norm Iler (Louisville, Ky) and Rob McCoy (PGA Pro from Venice).

From these humble beginnings, this group of friends went on to build and operate Waterford Golf Club (1989) and then Calusa Golf Club (1991). To this day, these three courses are still owned and operated by these (now) five families. Though the next generation has taken over, these golf courses are still known for exceptional service, quality, and affordability. If you are someone in town on vacation or here for a longer stay, join our family and come out and play. We offer daily play rates and full year memberships as well. Whatever your needs, there is no better value in golf in the Sarasota and Venice area!
